The title of this book reflects the character of the Church Order of the Canadian Reformed Churches. This Church Order is not a "Constitution and Bylaws" but is a document that contains the conditions the churches have adopted for their living together in one federation. These autonomous churches have neither surrendered nor transferred any of their God-given authority to anyone.
The subtitle includes the words "practical guide," and this is what the work is indeed. It is not a scholarly explanation of the Church Order but a guide to its practical use. For this reason both office-bearers and non-office-bearers will benefit from it. The book is easy to read and will be very helpful in coming to a correct understanding of what the Church Order is all about.
